Interclub 5K Challenge

RRR is hosting the 2009 Interclub Challenge on Sunday, March 15, 11:00 AM at Rockland Lake. Mark this date on your calendar!

After seven years in Orange County, this event which includes the Sullivan, Orange and Bronx running clubs, will finally be held in Rockland. The race is a fun run with bragging rights going to the club that has the most finishers scoring for their club. Entry fee is only $5. Post race refreshments and awards ceremony will be held at the Rockland Lake Firehouse. Click to download application and info.

To volunteer email Pres. JC Santa Teresa.

Adopt-A-Road Program

Our first 2009 cleanup date is Saturday, April 18. Many of us run the outer loop on a regular basis, we would appreciate if you will pitch in and help us Keep Rockland Beautiful.

We meet at the south entrance to Rockland Lake at 8:00 AM and form teams consisting of two members on either side of the road starting at points in the middle as well as the north and south ends. In all, sixteen people are ideal to complete the cleanup in less that 45 minutes. Bags and latex gloves will be provided, but we suggest that you bring your own gloves. Please contact John Melican or JoAnn Hodges for more info. Future dates TBA.

Relay for Life RRR will once again participate in the American Cancer Society's Rockland County Relay For Life. This is our seventh year!

This year's event will be held once again at Rockland Community College on Saturday June 13th, beginning at noon, and continuing through the night until dawn on Sunday the 14th. We need many of you to participate as a team member either as a runner or walker for half or full hour intervals to fill the eighteen hour time frame. Family and friends are invited during the day on Saturday. It's a fun event for children as well. There's a Children's Activity Tent and music and entertainment for all. The Caregiver's and Survivors lap takes place at 5:00 pm. Feel free to bring a family member or friend if applicable.

The primary objective, of course, is to raise funds in our club's name for the ACS. Our goal is to raise $5000. So please help us make this year a success. We rely heavily on our club members, their families and friends to be generous in supporting us in this team event to fight back against cancer. Participants and donors can sign up at the Relay For Life of Rockland County website. Select sign up or donate, then select Join a Team, enter team name: Rockland Road Runners. Please join us as a team member. You and/or your friends and family may donate to the team or a particular team member. You can also purchase a candle in memory of, or in honor of, a family member or friend by choosing the LUMINARIA. Their names are written on bags containing candles completely encircling the track and are lit at dark. It is a very moving moment to those present.
