Text Box: Women’s Distance Festival, 5K Run/Walk Congratulations to Peggy Neil and Larry Wolf for once again throwing a wonderful event. The Twentieth Anniversary Women’s Distance Festival 5K was certainly a fun one. Beautiful weather and great volunteers, what more could you ask for. The results are posted on the website, Shelby Greany was the top RRR female and overall winner, straight off of her sophomore 2K steeplechase National Record. Sheila Casey showed that her injury was behind her placing 4th overall. there were many RRR winners, so check the results on the website to see how well the “Ladies of the Lake” did. To the volunteers, thanks for your help! Each and every one of you contributed to the success of the event. Text Box: Group /Track Workouts this week! Track : Wednesday, July 18th, at Pearl River Track, 7 pm 1 1/2 mile warm-up, 400 m, 800 m, 1200 m, 1200m, 800 m, 400 m, 1 mile warm-down. Summer midweek group runs: During the summer months consider joining the 9 am group for the daily workouts. Start time is 9:10 am from the fishing station parking lot. Text Box: Next Team Race: NYRR Met’s Run to Home Plate 5K Saturday July 22nd, Team RRR heads to Shea Stadium to compete in the Met’s Run to Home Plate 5K. This event is sold out and the RRR Van is nearly full Contact Ernie about this event: longruns@rocklandrunners.org Text Box: Rockland Road Runners 3 Mile Fun Run and Summer Barbeque Friday, August 3rd, Rockland Lake State Park, Congers NY Barbeque at Kennelly’s Grill House Fun for the whole Family! Running, Games, Food, Drinks, Raffles and more! The 3 mile Fun run will be timed, no medals, no shirts just a fun warm up for the evenings festivities. 6 pm start at the North Parking Lot of Rockland Lake. Kids races will also be held. Barbeque starts at 7 pm at Kennelly’s Grill House which is conveniently located across the street from Rockland Lake on Route 9W in Congers. Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken, salads, draft beer, wine and sodas are included. Cash bar at the Tiki bar for mixed drinks. We would like to provide a slide or bounce item for the kids and arrange other activities, but in order to justify the time and expense we need to know that children will be attending. So please sign up ASAP if you plan on coming, so that we have time to plan activities. $10 a person/$5 a child for members, $20 a person/ $10 a child for non-members includes race and barbeque. Non-member prices apply if you do not register by the deadline. There is a Max so register early to assure a spot. So mark the date on your calendar, invite your friends and register early! We will be again chartering a bus to the NYRR Team Championships in Central Park on Saturday, August 18th.  In addition to the bus, we will have a picnic bRUNch after the races before we return to Rockland.  This is a fun event because it is one of the few times where everyone can cheer their teammates on because the guys and gals run separately and, based on last year, it was a toss up on who yelled the loudest.  So don't miss out and come be a part of the fun and camaraderie!  Runners of all abilities are welcome. It is a 5 mile race and the men's race starts at 8AM and the women's race starts at 9AM.  The bus will leave from the commuter lot (Lot J) of the Palisades Center Mall at 6AM.  The entrance to the lot is across from Home Depot.  The cost for the bus is $10.  Please make checks payable to RRR and send them to Team RRR, P.O. Box 132, Congers, NY  10920.  Also please email me if you'd like to reserve a seat on the bus.  If you plan on arranging your own  transportation to the race, but will be joining us for the picnic, please let me know so we have enough food and beverages for everyone to enjoy.
