Text Box: Carol Guzinski Overall Female Winner at the Queens Half!
The Queens Half Marathon was up in the air all year. The Borough had imposed many restrictions on the race, causing NYRR to have to change the course from the original enjoyable two loops through the neighborhood. In order to keep the borough happy NYRR had to weave the 13 miles in and out of the side streets which caused an uncountable number of turns and up and down hills. With all the turns it was hard to keep track of where you were and with the turn ahead you could not predict if you would be going up or down hill. A little painful on the feet and knees.

Carol Guzinski was unaware that she was the leader during the race and got conflicting info from the fans along the course. First women was called at one spot, a little latter a shout of third place came from the side. But as she approached the finish, the tape was raised and she took the win in 1:26:47. After 2 years of recovery from an injury that has been causing her grief it was great to see her beaming as she accepted her award amongst cheers from her teammates…..Way to go Carol!

The forth place overall women was Laura DiMarino and she was quite happy to have recovered quick enough to participate in the race and owes her success to Dr. Handlesman (Chiropractor), Renee Sliva (Podiatrist) and Jeanette Martin (message) for working their magic and getting her back in racing condition in record time. Second place in the 40-44 age group was a nice surprise. Sharing in the celebration at the finish was Josephine Patten took first in the 50-55 age group rounding out the trophies for team RRR.

Other noteworthy performances came from Evan Glueck who ran his first Half Marathon in over 8 years in a 1:27:30, an impressive return to racing. Mike Nusblat continued to amaze his fans, running a 1:35:04 Personal Best just a week after his Yonkers Marathon success. Nichola Davis ran her very first half marathon in a little over 2 hours and was all smiles relishing her first attempt at the distance. Perhaps the Philadelphia Marathon is in her near future as she seemed undaunted by the half marathon distance. The rest of the RRR bunch had mixed feelings about the new course but ran well despite. Congrats to all. NYRR has pictures on their website please check their website for the story and photos. http://www.nyrr.org/

Text Box: 25th Anniversary Rockland Alumni Cross Country 3 mile Run
Saturday, November 24th
Mark your calendars, this event is 25 years old this year!

Text Box: Condolences

Our condolences to RRR member Ken Kinsley, whose father passed away on Sept. 16. William J. Kinsley was a resident of Pearl River for 52 years. Friends may send memorial donations to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association.

It saddens me to have to report that we lost Mr. George Lynch the VFW Post commander in Piermont. George was 80 years old. He is best known in RRR for spearheading the GI Joe Statue project in Piermont, to which RRR donated generously from the proceeds of the Turkey Trot. He was "Mr. Veteran" in Piermont/Sparkill and will be surely missed. Condolences to his family and friends. The Lynch family requests donations in lieu of flowers be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, c/o P.O. Box 87, Sparkill, NY 10976.
Text Box: Good Luck and Get well soon!

Club member Timmy Hodges will have surgery on his back this week and his fellow runners wish him a successful surgery and speedy recovery! We anticipate that he will be well cared for by his wife Joanne Hodges, nurse extraordinaire! Don’t let him whine too much Joanne.

For sale is a Trek 7500 with a brand new (never used) man’s seat.  It was checked over by Nyack Bicycle Outfitters and never ridden after that.  I don’t know what to ask for the price. It was @ $500.00 new but ridden very little so it’s in very good shape.  Anyone who is interested can call me with an offer at 845.425.0564. Mariam also has a brand new Apple Computer for sale.
