Text Box: 2007 Annual Awards—Nominations
With the Holiday Party only 4 weeks away we are reaching out to members to help with the awards process by participating in nomination process. There are three awards, Volunteer of the year, The George Wodicka Inspiration Award, and the Don Cordisco Award.
Don Cordisco Award: The "Person of the Year - Don Cordisco Award", named in honor and in memory of a well-loved and popular member of the club. Don was described as, "...an accomplished runner and triathlete, whose love for running was second only to his love for his family." In 1998, the club officially dropped the "Person of the Year" title, because the award had evolved into a recognition of longtime contribution and service to the RRR, rather than just one year. Today, the "Don Cordisco Award" is the most prestigious award presented by the club, annually chosen by a committee of previous winners who are still active club members. Contact and nominations - Larry Wolf larrywolf@optonline.net Last year, Rich Tinger won the award for his years of devotion to the George Wodicka Hook Mountain Half Marathon
Volunteer of the Year This award is selected by a commitee of the club's race directors and board members. It is presented to the club member who stands out by consistently exhibiting a strong commitment toward volunteering and working at club races and events throughout the year. Contact and nominations— Cheryl Langus activities@rocklandroadrunners.org Last Year Cheryl Langus won this award!
The George Wodicka Inspiration Award is presented to the club member who best exemplifies the qualities that inspire and motivate those around them to keep running, and persevere against all odds. See Mike bike, see Rafi run.
This was a fun event to watch although it was a little confusing keeping track of the bike loops around the lake. The race started with a counter clockwise run loop of the lake, jumped on the bikes for 4 outer loops and back to the inside loop for a clockwise run loop to the finish.

Club Member Julio Melendez 50-55 age group winner impressed his fans with his top 10 finish.

Other club members who participated were,
Mike Greco, Rafi Shrem, Stew Raskin, Bill Carpenter, Ernest Joseph, Ken Kingsley, Mark Wolf, Kathleen Daly all showingoff their stuff. I placed them in what I recall as the order of finish. Mike Greco competed with a pulled muscle, Rafi had a small crash but they really appeared to have a fun time. Marie Killeen and Larry Wolf joined me cheering on the participants and Deb and Shawn Fredericks volunteered at the event. Larry Wolf was particularly proud of his son who competed for the first time. Ernest was another first timer. The average time to complete the race was about 1 hour 30 minutes. I have to say it was great to see all levels of competitors on everything from state of the art bikes, trail bikes and fat tire bikes competing. At the end they are all winners.
Text Box: Elections 2008

Elections are this January and there are positions that will be vacant and need to be filled. Secretary
and Treasurer terms are over and need solid candidates to fill those rolls. President and Vice President
positions terms are also up for election and although Laura and Ernie plan on seeking a second term
that doesn’t mean you can’t run against them.
Advertising Director is not seeking an additional term and a shuffle among existing board members
could result in positions opening up.

If you are even vaguely interested in becoming part of the RRR board feel free to contact
one of the election committee members. We can use additional help and would love for you to step up and participate in the development
and continued success of RRR and its programs. Talk to Ernest Joseph or any Board member if you are interested or just curious about
what you could offer. Ernest is the election committee coordinator, you can contact him or any of the board members for additional
information.
