Adopt-A-Road ProgramBy Mike GrecoAs many of you already know, RRR has become the latest organization to participate in the county's "Adopt-A-Road" program. We have adopted 1.3 miles of Rockland Lake Road (the outer loop), beginning at the base of the hill adjacent to parking lot #4, continuing counter clockwise around the lake and ending just before the Landing Road intersection (by the firehouse). "Adopt-A-Road" signs have been erected at each end proudly displaying our club name for all to see. We felt that this was a good opportunity to have the club participate in a worthwhile county program, and at the same time participate in an area that has given our club members so much enjoyment through the years - Rockland Lake. As participants in this program, it is RRR's responsibility to conduct a minimum of four (4) clean-up dates throughout the year insuring that our adopted section of the road reflects a neat and clean appearance for all to enjoy. It is only through the volunteer participation of our club members that we will be able to continue in this program on a long-term basis. Recently, some newer RRR members have asked how they can get more involved with club activities. Although volunteering to work club races is an obvious choice, volunteering to participate on clean-up dates at "the lake" is just as important. Schedule of clean-up dates will be posted on our events page. A minimum of about 10 volunteers is needed for each date (although more are always welcome). It takes about 1 1/2 hours to complete the clean-up. This is a great opportunity to participate in a worthwhile club activity which benefits the community as a whole. To volunteer for any of these clean-up dates (or any other club activity), call the club hotline: (845) 624-5014, or speak with any of the club officers. Meet and park your car by the firehouse Vests, hats and bags are provided. (Bring your own gloves)
